| Transliteration 1: | Alhamdu lillahi allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda wajaAAala alththulumati waalnnoora thumma allatheena kafaroo birabbihim yaAAdiloona |
| Yusuf Ali 1: | Praise be Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light. Yet those who reject Faith hold (others) as equal, with their Guardian-Lord. |

| Transliteration 2: | Huwa allathee khalaqakum min teenin thumma qada ajalan waajalun musamman AAindahu thumma antum tamtaroona |
| Yusuf Ali 2: | He it is Who created you from clay, and then decreed a stated term (for you). And there is in His presence another determined term; yet ye doubt within yourselves! |
| Shakir 2: | He it is Who created you from clay, then He decreed a term; and there is a term named with Him; still you doubt. |

| Transliteration 3: | Wahuwa Allahu fee alssamawati wafee alardi yaAAlamu sirrakum wajahrakum wayaAAlamu ma taksiboona |
| Yusuf Ali 3: | And He is Allah in the heavens and on earth. He knoweth what ye hide, and what ye reveal, and He knoweth the (recompense) which ye earn (by your deeds). |

| Transliteration 4: | Wama tateehim min ayatin min ayati rabbihim illa kanoo AAanha muAArideena |
| Yusuf Ali 4: | But never did a single one of the signs of their Lord reach them, but they turned away therefrom. |
| Shakir 4: | And there does not come to them any communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it |
| Pickthal 4: | Never came there unto them a revelation of the revelations of Allah but they did turn away from it. |

| 5 | فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ |
| Transliteration 5: | Faqad kaththaboo bialhaqqi lamma jaahum fasawfa yateehim anbao ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona |
| Yusuf Ali 5: | And now they reject the truth when it reaches them: but soon shall they learn the reality of what they used to mock at. |
| Shakir 5: | So they have indeed rejected the truth when it came to them; therefore the truth of what they mocked at will shine upon them. |
| Pickthal 5: | And they denied the truth when it came unto them. But there will come unto them the tidings of that which they used to deride. |
| Mohsin Khan: 5: | Indeed, they rejected the truth (the Qur'an and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) when it came to them, but there will come to them the news of that (the torment) which they used to mock at. |

| 6 | أَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا الْأَنْهَارَ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا آخَرِينَ |
| Transliteration 6: | Alam yaraw kam ahlakna min qablihim min qarnin makkannahum fee alardi ma lam numakkin lakum waarsalna alssamaa AAalayhim midraran wajaAAalna alanhara tajree min tahtihim faahlaknahum bithunoobihim waanshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareena |
| Yusuf Ali 6: | See they not how many of those before them We did destroy?- generations We had established on the earth, in strength such as We have not given to you - for whom We poured out rain from the skies in abundance, and gave (fertile) streams flowing beneath their (feet): yet for their sins We destroyed them, and raised in their wake fresh generations (to succeed them). |
| Shakir 6: | Do they not consider how many a generation We have destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth as We have not established you, and We sent the clouds pouring rain on them in abundance, and We made the rivers to flow beneath them, then We destroyed them on account of their faults and raised up after them another generation. |
| Pickthal 6: | See they not how many a generation We destroyed before them, whom We had established in the earth more firmly than We have established you, and We shed on them abundant showers from the sky, and made the rivers flow beneath them. Yet we destroyed them for their sins, and created after them another generation. |

| 7 | وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَابًا فِي قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ لَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَـٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ |
| Transliteration 7: | Walaw nazzalna AAalayka kitaban fee qirtasin falamasoohu biaydeehim laqala allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa sihrun mubeenun |
| Yusuf Ali 7: | If We had sent unto thee a written (message) on parchment, so that they could touch it with their hands, the Unbelievers would have been sure to say: "This is nothing but obvious magic!" |
| Shakir 7: | And if We had sent to you a writing on a paper, then they had touched it with their hands, certainly those who disbelieve would have said: This is nothing but clear enchantment. |
| Pickthal 7: | Had we sent down unto thee (Muhammad) (actual) writing upon parchment, so that they could feel it with their hands, those who disbelieve would have said: This is naught else than mere magic. |
| Mohsin Khan: 7: | And even if We had sent down unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) a Message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands, the disbelievers would have said: "This is nothing but obvious magic!" |

| German 7: | "Wenn Wir dir auch eine Schrift auf einem Blatt Papier herabgesandt hätten, welche sie mit Händen angefaßt hätten, die Ungläubigen hätten selbst dann gesagt: ""Das ist nichts als offenkundige Zauberei."" |
| Russian 7: | Если бы даже Мы ниспослали тебе Писание на бумаге, и они прикоснулись бы к ней своими руками, неверующие все равно бы сказали: «Это – очевидное колдовство». |
| Bosnian 7: | A i da ti Knjigu na papiru spustimo i da je oni rukama svojim opipaju, opet bi sigurno rekli oni koji neće da vjeruju: "Ovo nije ništa drugo do prava vradžbina." |

| 8 | وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ ۖ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ |
| Transliteration 8: | Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhi malakun walaw anzalna malakan laqudiya alamru thumma la yuntharoona |
| Yusuf Ali 8: | They say: "Why is not an angel sent down to him?" If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them. |
| Shakir 8: | And they say: Why has not an angel been sent down to him? And had We sent down an angel, the matter would have certainly been decided and then they would not have been respited. |
| Pickthal 8: | They say: Why hath not an angel been sent down unto him? If We sent down an angel, then the matter would be judged; no further time would be allowed them (for reflection). |
| Mohsin Khan: 8: | And they say: "Why has not an angel been sent down to him?" Had We sent down an angel, the matter would have been judged at once, and no respite would be granted to them. |
| French 8: | Et ils disent: ‹Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui (Muhammad) un Ange?› Si Nous avions fait descendre un Ange, ç'eût été, sûrement, affaire faite; puis on ne leur eût point donné de délai. |

| Indonesian 8: | Dan mereka berkata: "Mengapa tidak diturunkan kepadanya (Muhammad) seorang malaikat?" dan kalau Kami turunkan (kepadanya) seorang malaikat, tentu selesailah urusan itu kemudian mereka tidak diberi tangguh (sedikit pun). |
| Melayu 8: | Dan mereka berkata: Mengapa tidak diturunkan malaikat kepadanya? padahal kalau Kami turunkan malaikat nescaya selesailah perkara itu (kerana mereka tetap berdegil dan tidak akan beriman), kemudian mereka tidak diberi tempoh (lalu dibinasakan dengan bala bencana secara mengejut). |
| German 8: | ""Und sie sagen: ""Wäre ein Engel zu ihm herabgesandt worden!"" Hätten Wir aber einen Engel herabgesandt, wäre die Sache entschieden gewesen; dann hätten sie keinen Aufschub erlangt. |
| Russian 8: | Они сказали: «Почему к нему не спускается ангел?» Если бы Мы ниспослали ангела, то решение уже было бы вынесено, после чего они не получили бы отсрочки. |
| Bosnian 8: | Oni govore: "Trebalo je da mu se pošalje melek!" A da meleka pošaljemo, s njima bi svršeno bilo, ni cigli čas vremena im ne bi više dao. |
| Urdu 8: | اور کہتے ہیں اس پر کوئی فرشتہ کیوں نہیں اتارا گیا اور اگر ہم فرشتہ اتارے تو اب تک فیصلہ ہو چکا ہوتا پھر انہیں مہلت نہ دی جاتی |
| 9 | وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَاهُ مَلَكًا لَّجَعَلْنَاهُ رَجُلًا وَلَلَبَسْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّا يَلْبِسُونَ |
| Transliteration 9: | Walaw jaAAalnahu malakan lajaAAalnahu rajulan walalabasna AAalayhim ma yalbisoona |
| Yusuf Ali 9: | If We had made it an angel, We should have sent him as a man, and We should certainly have caused them confusion in a matter which they have already covered with confusion. |
| Shakir 9: | And if We had made him angel, We would certainly have made him a man, and We would certainly have made confused to them what they make confused. |
| Pickthal 9: | Had we appointed him (Our messenger) an angel, We assuredly had made him (as) a man (that he might speak to men); and (thus) obscured for them (the truth) they (now) obscure. |
| Mohsin Khan: 9: | And had We appointed him an angel, We indeed would have made him a man, and We would have certainly confused them in which they are already confused (i.e. the Message of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). |

| Indonesian 9: | Dan kalau Kami jadikan rasul itu (dari) malaikat, tentulah Kami jadikan dia berupa laki-laki dan (jika Kami jadikan dia berupa laki-laki), Kamipun akan jadikan mereka tetap ragu sebagaimana kini mereka ragu. |
| Melayu 9: | Dan kalau (Rasul) itu Kami jadikan malaikat, tentulah Kami jadikan dia berupa seorang lelaki (supaya mereka dapat melihatnya) dan tentulah Kami (dengan yang demikian) menyebabkan mereka kesamaran sebagaimana mereka sengaja membuat-buat kesamaran (tentang kebenaran Nabi Muhammad s.a.w). |
| German 9: | "Und wenn Wir ihn zu einem Engel gemacht hätten, hätten Wir ihn doch als Menschen erscheinen lassen, und so hätten Wir ihnen das noch mehr verwirrt, was sie selbst schon verwirrt. |
| Russian 9: | Если бы даже Мы ниспослали ангела, Мы все равно сделали бы его мужчиной и привели бы их в замешательство относительно того, в чем они сомневаются. |

| Urdu 9: | اور اگر ہم کسی کو فرشتہ کو رسول بنا کر بھیجتے تو وہ بھی آدمی ہی کی صورت میں ہوتا اور انہیں اسی میں شبہ میں ڈالے جس میں اب مبتلا ہیں |
| 10 | وَلَقَدِ اسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِالَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ |
| Transliteration 10: | Walaqadi istuhzia birusulin min qablika fahaqa biallatheena sakhiroo minhum ma kanoo bihi yastahzioona |
| Yusuf Ali 10: | Mocked were (many) apostles before thee; but their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked. |
| Shakir 10: | And certainly messengers before you were mocked at, but that which they mocked at encompassed the scoffers among them. |
| Pickthal 10: | Messengers (of Allah) have been derided before thee, but that whereat they scoffed surrounded such of them as did deride. |
| Mohsin Khan: 10: | And indeed (many) Messengers before you were mocked at, but their scoffers were surrounded by the very thing that they used to mock at. |
| French 10: | Certes, on s'est moqué de messagers avant toi, mais ceux qui se sont raillés d'eux, leur propre raillerie les enveloppa. |

| Melayu 10: | Dan demi sesungguhnya! Telah diperolok-olok beberapa Rasul sebelummu, lalu orang-orang yang mengejek-ejek di antara mereka ditimpakan (balasan azab) bagi apa yang mereka telah perolok-olokkan itu. |
| German 10: | Schon vor dir wurden Gesandte verspottet, doch das, worüber sie spotteten, erfaßte die Spötter unter ihnen. |

| 11 | قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ انظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
| Transliteration 11: | Qul seeroo fee alardi thumma onthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena |
| Yusuf Ali 11: | Say: "Travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who rejected Truth." |
| Shakir 11: | Say: Travel in the land, then see what was the end of the rejecters. |
| Pickthal 11: | Say (unto the disbelievers): Travel in the land, and see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters! |
| Mohsin Khan: 11: | Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Travel in the land and see what was the end of those who rejected truth." |

| 12 | قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ قُل لِّلَّهِ ۚ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Transliteration 12: | Qul liman ma fee alssamawati waalardi qul lillahi kataba AAala nafsihi alrrahmata layajmaAAannakum ila yawmi alqiyamati la rayba feehi allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yuminoona |
| Yusuf Ali 12: | Say: "To whom belongeth all that is in the heavens and on earth?" Say: "To Allah. He hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. That He will gather you together for the Day of Judgment, there is no doubt whatever. It is they who have lost their own souls, that will not believe. |
| Shakir 12: | Say: To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth? Say: To Allah; He has ordained mercy on Himself; most certainly He will gather you on the resurrection day-- there is no doubt about it. (As for) those who have lost their souls, they will not believe. |
| Pickthal 12: | Say: Unto whom belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth? Say: Unto Allah. He hath prescribed for Himself mercy, that He may bring you all together to the Day of Resurrection whereof there is no doubt. Those who ruin their souls will not believe. |
| Mohsin Khan: 12: | Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "To whom belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth?" Say: "To Allah. He has prescribed Mercy for Himself. Those who have lost themselves will not believe [in Allah as being the only Ilah (God), and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم as being one of His Messengers, and in Resurrection]. |

Orang-orang yang merugikan dirinya, mereka itu tidak beriman. |

| Transliteration 13: | Walahu ma sakana fee allayli waalnnahari wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu |
| Yusuf Ali 13: | To him belongeth all that dwelleth (or lurketh) in the night and the day. For he is the one who heareth and knoweth all things." |
| Shakir 13: | And to Him belongs whatever dwells in the night and the day; and He is the Hearing, the Knowing. |
| Pickthal 13: | Unto Him belongeth whatsoever resteth in the night and the day. He is the Hearer, the Knower. |

| 14 | قُلْ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلَا يُطْعَمُ ۗ قُلْ إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ ۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ |
| Transliteration 14: | Qul aghayra Allahi attakhithu waliyyan fatiri alssamawati waalardi wahuwa yutAAimu wala yutAAamu qul innee omirtu an akoona awwala man aslama wala takoonanna mina almushrikeena |
| Yusuf Ali 14: | Say: "Shall I take for my protector any other than Allah, the Maker of the heavens and the earth? And He it is that feedeth but is not fed." Say: "Nay! but I am commanded to be the first of those who bow to Allah (in Islam), and be not thou of the company of those who join gods with Allah." |
| Shakir 14: | Say: Shall I take a guardian besides Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, and He feeds (others) and is not (Himself) fed. Say: I am commanded to be the first who submits himself, and you should not be of the polytheists. |
| Pickthal 14: | Say: Shall I choose for a protecting friend other than Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Who feedeth and is never fed? Say: I am ordered to be the first to surrender (unto Him). And be not thou (O Muhammad) of the idolaters. |

| 15 | قُلْ إِنِّي أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّي عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ |
| Transliteration 15: | Qul innee akhafu in AAasaytu rabbee AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin |
| Yusuf Ali 15: | Say: "I would, if I disobeyed my Lord, indeed have fear of the penalty of a Mighty Day. |
| Shakir 15: | Say: Surely I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the chastisement of a grievous day. |
| Pickthal 15: | Say: I fear, if I rebel against my Lord, the retribution of an Awful Day. |
| Mohsin Khan: 15: | Say: "I fear, if I disobey my Lord, the torment of a Mighty Day." |
| French 15: | Dis: ‹Je crains, si je désobéis à mon Seigneur, le châtiment d'un jour redoutable›. |

| 16 | مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ |
| Transliteration 16: | Man yusraf AAanhu yawmaithin faqad rahimahu wathalika alfawzu almubeenu |
| Yusuf Ali 16: | "On that day, if the penalty is averted from any, it is due to Allah.s mercy; And that would be (Salvation), the obvious fulfilment of all desire. |
| Shakir 16: | He from whom it is averted on that day, Allah indeed has shown mercy to him; and this is a manifest achievement. |
| Pickthal 16: | He from whom (such retribution) is averted on that day, (Allah) hath in truth had mercy on him. That will be the signal triumph. |
| Mohsin Khan: 16: | He who is averted from (such a torment) on that Day, (Allah) has surely been Merciful to him. And that would be the obvious success. |
| French 16: | En ce jour, quiconque est épargné, c'est qu'[Allah] lui a fait miséricorde, Et voilà le succès éclatant. |
| Spanish 16: | Él se habrá apiadado de aquél a quien ese día se le haya alejado. Ése es el éxito manifiesto. |
| Indonesian 16: | Barangsiapa yang dijauhkan azab daripadanya pada hari itu, maka sungguh Allah telah memberikan rahmat kepadanya. Dan itulah keberuntungan yang nyata. |
| Melayu 16: | Sesiapa yang dijauhkan azab daripadanya pada hari itu, maka sesugguhnya Allah telah memberi rahmat kepadanya dan itulah kejayaan yang jelas nyata. |
| German 16: | "Wer an jenem Tage davor bewahrt bleibt, dem hat Er Barmherzigkeit erwiesen. Das ist ein offenbarer Erfolg. |
| Russian 16: | Тот, кто будет отвращен от них (мучений) в тот день, того Он помиловал. Это будет очевидное преуспеяние. |

| 17 | وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ اللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |
| Transliteration 17: | Wain yamsaska Allahu bidurrin fala kashifa lahu illa huwa wain yamsaska bikhayrin fahuwa AAala kulli shayin qadeerun |
| Yusuf Ali 17: | "If Allah touch thee with affliction, none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness, He hath power over all things. |
| Shakir 17: | And if Allah touch you with affliction, there is none to take it off but He; and if He visit you with good, then He has power over all things. |
| Pickthal 17: | If Allah touch thee with affliction, there is none that can relieve therefrom save Him, and if He touch thee with good fortune (there is none that can impair it); for He is Able to do all things. |
| Mohsin Khan: 17: | And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is Able to do all things. |
| French 17: | Et si Allah fait qu'un malheur te touche, nul autre que Lui ne peut l'enlever. Et s'Il fait qu'un bonheur te touche... c'est qu'Il est Omnipotent. |

| Indonesian 17: | Jika Allah menimpakan suatu kemudharatan kepadamu, maka tidak ada yang menghilangkannya melainkan Dia sendiri. Dan jika Dia mendatangkan kebaikan kepadamu, maka Dia Maha Kuasa atas tiap-tiap sesuatu. |

| Transliteration 18: | Wahuwa alqahiru fawqa AAibadihi wahuwa alhakeemu alkhabeeru |
| Yusuf Ali 18: | "He is the irresistible, (watching) from above over His worshippers; and He is the Wise, acquainted with all things." |

| 19 | قُلْ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَادَةً ۖ قُلِ اللَّهُ ۖ شَهِيدٌ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَأُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ هَـٰذَا الْقُرْآنُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِ وَمَن بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ اللَّهِ آلِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۚ قُل لَّا أَشْهَدُ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ |
| Transliteration 19: | Qul ayyu shayin akbaru shahadatan quli Allahu shaheedun baynee wabaynakum waoohiya ilayya hatha alquranu lionthirakum bihi waman balagha ainnakum latashhadoona anna maAAa Allahi alihatan okhra qul la ashhadu qul innama huwa ilahun wahidun wainnanee bareeon mimma tushrikoona |
| Yusuf Ali 19: | Say: "What thing is most weighty in evidence?" Say: "(Allah) is witness between me and you; This Qur'an hath been revealed to me by inspiration, that I may warn you and all whom it reaches. Can ye possibly bear witness that besides Allah there is another Allah." Say: "Nay! I cannot bear witness!" Say: "But in truth He is the one Allah, and I truly am innocent of (your blasphemy of) joining others with Him." |
| Shakir 19: | Say: What thing is the weightiest in testimony? Say: Allah is witness between you and me; and this Quran has been revealed to me that with it I may warn you and whomsoever it reaches. | 20 | الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَعْرِفُونَهُ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَاءَهُمُ ۘ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Transliteration 20: | Allatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yaAArifoonahu kama yaAArifoona abnaahum allatheena khasiroo anfusahum fahum la yuminoona |
| Yusuf Ali 20: | Those to whom We have given the Book know this as they know their own sons. Those who have lost their own souls refuse therefore to believe. |
| Shakir 20: | Those whom We have given the Book recognize him as they recognize their sons; (as for) those who have lost their souls, they will not believe. |
| Pickthal 20: | Those unto whom We gave the Scripture recognise (this revelation) as they recognise their sons. Those who ruin their own souls will not believe. |
| Mohsin Khan: 20: | Those to whom We have given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognize him (i.e. Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم as a Messenger of Allah, and they also know that there is no Ilah (God) but Allah and Islam is Allah's Religion), as they recognize their own sons. Those who have lost (destroyed) themselves will not believe. (Tafsir At-Tabari). |

| 21 | وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ ۗ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ |
| Transliteration 21: | Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba biayatihi innahu la yuflihu alththalimoona |
| Yusuf Ali 21: | Who doth more wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah or rejecteth His signs? But verily the wrong-doers never shall prosper. |
| Shakir 21: | And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah or (he who) gives the lie to His communications; surely the unjust will not be successful. |
| Pickthal 21: | Who doth greater wrong than he who inventeth a lie against Allah or denieth His revelations? Lo! the wrongdoers will not be successful. |
| Mohsin Khan: 21: | And who does more aggression and wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah or rejects His Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons or revelations)? Verily, the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) shall never be successful. |

| Melayu 21: | Dan siapakah lagi yang lebih aniaya dari orang yang mengada-adakan perkara-perkara yang dusta terhadap Allah atau yang mendustakan ayat-ayat keteranganNya? Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang zalim itu tidak akan berjaya. |
| German 21: | Und wer ist ungerechter als der, der eine Lüge gegen Allah ersinnt oder Seine Verse für Lüge erklärt? Wahrlich, die Ungerechten erlangen keinen Erfolg. |
| Russian 21: | Кто может быть несправедливее того, кто возвел на Аллаха навет или счел ложью Его знамения? Воистину, не преуспеют беззаконники. |

| 22 | وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا أَيْنَ شُرَكَاؤُكُمُ الَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ |
| Transliteration 22: | Wayawma nahshuruhum jameeAAan thumma naqoolu lillatheena ashrakoo ayna shurakaokumu allatheena kuntum tazAAumoona |
| Yusuf Ali 22: | One day shall We gather them all together: We shall say to those who ascribed partners (to Us): "Where are the partners whom ye (invented and) talked about?" |
| Shakir 22: | And on the day when We shall gather them all together, then shall We say to those who associated others (with Allah): Where are your associates whom you asserted? |
| Pickthal 22: | And on the day We gather them together We shall say unto those who ascribed partners (unto Allah): Where are (now) those partners of your make-believe? |
| Mohsin Khan: 22: | And on the Day when We shall gather them all together, then We shall say to those who joined partners (in worship with Us): "Where are your partners (false deities) whom you used to assert (as partners in worship with Allah)?" |

| 23 | ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا وَاللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ |
| Transliteration 23: | Thumma lam takun fitnatuhum illa an qaloo waAllahi rabbina ma kunna mushrikeena |
| Yusuf Ali 23: | There will then be (left) no subterfuge for them but to say: "By Allah our Lord, we were not those who joined gods with Allah." |
| Shakir 23: | Then their excuse would be nothing but that they would say: By Allah, our Lord, we were not polytheists. |
| Pickthal 23: | Then will they have no contention save that they will say: By Allah, our Lord, we never were idolaters. |
| Mohsin Khan: 23: | There will then be (left) no Fitnah (excuses or statements or arguments) for them but to say: "By Allah, our Lord, we were not those who joined others in worship with Allah." |

| 24 | انظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُوا عَلَىٰ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ |
| Transliteration 24: | Onthur kayfa kathaboo AAala anfusihim wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroona |
| Yusuf Ali 24: | Behold! how they lie against their own souls! But the (lie) which they invented will leave them in the lurch. |
| Shakir 24: | See how they lie against their own souls, and that which they forged has passed away from them. |
| Pickthal 24: | See how they lie against themselves, and (how) the thing which they devised hath failed them! |
| Mohsin Khan: 24: | Look! How they lie against themselves! But the (lie) which they invented will disappear from them. |
| French 24: | Vois comment ils mentent à eux-mêmes! Et comment les abandonnent (les associés) qu'ils inventaient! |

| 25 | وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِي آذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِن يَرَوْا كُلَّ آيَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَا ۚ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءُوكَ يُجَادِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَـٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| Transliteration 25: | Waminhum man yastamiAAu ilayka wajaAAalna AAala quloobihim akinnatan an yafqahoohu wafee athanihim waqran wain yaraw kulla ayatin la yuminoo biha hatta itha jaooka yujadiloonaka yaqoolu allatheena kafaroo in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena |
| Yusuf Ali 25: | Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients." |
| Shakir 25: | And of them is he who hearkens to you, and We have cast veils over their hearts lest they understand it and a heaviness into their ears; and even if they see every sign they will not believe in it; so much so that when they come to you they only dispute with you; those who disbelieve say: This is naught but the stories of the ancients. |
| Pickthal 25: | Of them are some who listen unto thee, but We have placed upon their hearts veils, lest they should understand, and in their ears a deafness. If they saw every token they would not believe therein; to the point that, when they come unto thee to argue with thee, the disbelievers say: This is naught else than fables of the men of old. |

| Indonesian 25: | Dan di antara mereka ada orang yang mendengarkan (bacaan) mu, padahal Kami telah meletakkan tutupan di atas hati mereka (sehingga mereka tidak) memahaminya dan (Kami letakkan) sumbatan di telinganya. Dan jikapun mereka melihat segala tanda (kebenaran), mereka tetap tidak mau beriman kepadanya. Sehingga apabila mereka datang kepadamu untuk membantahmu, orang-orang kafir itu berkata: "Al Qur'an ini tidak lain hanyalah dongengan orang-orang dahulu". |
| Melayu 25: | Dan di antara mereka ada yang mendengarkanmu (membaca Al-Quran), pada hal Kami telah jadikan tutupan berlapis-lapis atas hati mereka, yang menghalang mereka daripada memahaminya dan Kami jadikan pada telinga mereka penyumbat (yang menjadikan mereka pekak) dan kalaupun mereka melihat tiap-tiap keterangan (dan mukjizat yang membuktikan kebenaran Rasul), mereka tidak juga akan beriman kepada keterangan itu; sehingga apabila mereka datang kepadamu, sambil membantahmu, berkatalah orang-orang yang kafir itu: Ini tidak lain hanyalah cerita-cerita dongeng orang-orang dahulu. |
| German 25: | "Und unter ihnen sind manche, die dir Gehör schenken, doch Wir haben auf ihre Herzen Hüllen gelegt, so daß sie nicht begreifen, und in ihre Ohren Taubheit. Selbst wenn sie jedes Zeichen sähen, würden sie nicht daran glauben, so daß sie mit dir stritten, wenn sie zu dir kämen. Die Ungläubigen sagen: ""Das sind bloß Fabeln der Früheren."" |
| Russian 25: | Среди них есть такие, которые слушают тебя, но Мы накинули на их сердца покрывала, чтобы они не могли понять его, и поразили их уши глухотой. Какое бы знамение они ни увидели, они все равно не уверуют в него, и поэтому, когда они приходят к тебе, чтобы препираться с тобой, неверующие говорят: «Это – всего лишь сказки древних народов». |
| Bosnian 25: | Ima onih koji dolaze da te slušaju, ali Mi smo na srca njihova zastore stavili, da Kur’an ne bi razumjeli, i gluhim ih učinili, pa i ako bi sve dokaze vidjeli, opet u njih ne bi povjerovali. A kada ti dolaze da se s tobom raspravljaju, govore oni koji ne vjeruju: "To su samo izmišljotine naroda davnašnjih!" |
| Urdu 25: | اور بعض ان میں سے تیری طرف کان لگائے رہتے ہیں اور ہم نے ان کے دلوں پر پردے ڈال رکھے ہیں جس کی وجہ سے وہ کچھ نہیں سمجھتے اور ان کے کانو ں میں گرانی ہے اور اگر یہ تمام نشانیاں بھی دیکھ لیں تو بھی ان پر ایمان نہ لادیں گے جب وہ تمہارے پاس آ کر تم سے جھگڑتے ہیں تو کافر کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو پہلے لوگو ں کی کہانیاں ہی ہیں |
| 26 | وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْأَوْنَ عَنْهُ ۖ وَإِن يُهْلِكُونَ إِلَّا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ |
| Transliteration 26: | Wahum yanhawna AAanhu wayanawna AAanhu wain yuhlikoona illa anfusahum wama yashAAuroona |
| Yusuf Ali 26: | Others they keep away from it, and themselves they keep away; but they only destroy their own souls, and they perceive it not. |
| Shakir 26: | And they prohibit (others) from it and go far away from it, and they only bring destruction upon their own souls while they do not perceive. |
| Pickthal 26: | And they forbid (men) from it and avoid it, and they ruin none save themselves, though they perceive not. |
| Mohsin Khan: 26: | And they prevent others from him (from following Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and they themselves keep away from him, and (by doing so) they destroy not but their ownselves, yet they perceive (it) not. |

| 27 | وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ وُقِفُوا عَلَى النَّارِ فَقَالُوا يَا لَيْتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Transliteration 27: | Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala alnnari faqaloo ya laytana nuraddu wala nukaththiba biayati rabbina wanakoona mina almumineena |
| Yusuf Ali 27: | If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!" |
| Shakir 27: | And could you see when they are made to stand before the fire, then they shall say: Would that we were sent back, and we would not reject the communications of our Lord and we would be of the believers. |
| Pickthal 27: | If thou couldst see when they are set before the Fire and say: Oh, would that we might return! Then would we not deny the revelations of our Lord but we would be of the believers! |
| Mohsin Khan: 27: | If you could but see when they will be held over the (Hell) Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back (to the world)! Then we would not deny the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, revelations, etc.) of our Lord, and we would be of the believers!" |

| 28 | بَلْ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُخْفُونَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَوْ رُدُّوا لَعَادُوا لِمَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ |
| Transliteration 28: | Bal bada lahum ma kanoo yukhfoona min qablu walaw ruddoo laAAadoo lima nuhoo AAanhu wainnahum lakathiboona |
| Yusuf Ali 28: | Yea, in their own (eyes) will become manifest what before they concealed. But if they were returned, they would certainly relapse to the things they were forbidden, for they are indeed liars. |
| Shakir 28: | Nay, what they concealed before shall become manifest to them; and if they were sent back, they would certainly go back to that which they are forbidden, and most surely they are liars. |
| Pickthal 28: | Nay, but that hath become clear unto them which before they used to hide. And if they were sent back they would return unto that which they are forbidden. Lo! they are liars. |
| Mohsin Khan: 28: | Nay, it has become manifest to them what they had been concealing before. But if they were returned (to the world), they would certainly revert to that which they were forbidden. And indeed they are liars. |
| French 28: | Mais non! Voilà que leur apparaîtra ce qu'auparavant ils cachaient. Or, s'ils étaient rendus [à la vie terrestre], ils reviendraient sûrement à ce qui leur était interdit. Ce sont vraiment des menteurs. |

| Indonesian 28: | Tetapi (sebenarnya) telah nyata bagi mereka kejahatan yang mereka dahulu selalu menyembunyikannya . Sekiranya mereka dikembalikan ke dunia, tentulah mereka kembali kepada apa yang mereka telah dilarang mengerjakannya. Dan sesungguhnya mereka itu adalah pendusta-pendusta belaka. |
| Melayu 28: | (Mereka mengatakan yang demikian bukanlah kerana hendak beriman) bahkan setelah nyata kepada mereka apa yang mereka selalu sembunyikan dahulu dan kalau mereka dikembalikan ke dunia sekalipun, tentulah mereka akan mengulangi lagi apa yang mereka dilarang dari melakukannya dan sesungguhnya mereka adalah tetap pendusta. |

| 29 | وَقَالُوا إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ |
| Transliteration 29: | Waqaloo in hiya illa hayatuna alddunya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena |
| Yusuf Ali 29: | And they (sometimes) say: "There is nothing except our life on this earth, and never shall we be raised up again." |
| Shakir 29: | And they say: There is nothing but our life of this world, and we shall not be raised. |
| Pickthal 29: | And they say: There is naught save our life of the world, and we shall not be raised (again). |
| Mohsin Khan: 29: | And they said: "There is no (other life) but our (present) life of this world, and never shall we be resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection)." |

| 30 | وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ وُقِفُوا عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَـٰذَا بِالْحَقِّ ۚ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا ۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ |
| Transliteration 30: | Walaw tara ith wuqifoo AAala rabbihim qala alaysa hatha bialhaqqi qaloo bala warabbina qala fathooqoo alAAathaba bima kuntum takfuroona |
| Yusuf Ali 30: | If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with their Lord! He will say: "Is not this the truth?" They will say: "Yea, by our Lord!" He will say: "Taste ye then the penalty, because ye rejected Faith." |
| Shakir 30: | And could you see when they are made to stand before their Lord. He will say: Is not this the truth? They will say: Yea! by our Lord. He will say: Taste then the chastisement because you disbelieved. |
| Pickthal 30: | If thou couldst see when they are set before their Lord! He will say: Is not this real? They will say: Yea, verily, by our Lord! He will say: Taste now the retribution for that ye used to disbelieve. |
| Mohsin Khan: 30: | If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe." |

Mereka menjawab: "Sungguh benar, demi Tuhan kami". Berfirman Allah: "Karena itu rasakanlah azab ini, disebabkan kamu mengingkari (nya)". |

| Urdu 30: | اور کاش کہ تو دیکھے جس وقت وہ اپنے رب کے سامنے کھڑے کیے جائیں گے وہ فرمائے گا کیا یہ سچ نہیں کہیں گے ہاں ہمیں رب کی قسم ہے فرمائے گا تو اپنے کفر کے بدلے عذاب چکھو |
| 31 | قَدْ خَسِرَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِلِقَاءِ اللَّهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمُ السَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا يَا حَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ أَلَا سَاءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ |
| Transliteration 31: | Qad khasira allatheena kaththaboo biliqai Allahi hatta itha jaathumu alssaAAatu baghtatan qaloo ya hasratana AAala ma farratna feeha wahum yahmiloona awzarahum AAala thuhoorihim ala saa ma yaziroona |
| Yusuf Ali 31: | Lost indeed are they who treat it as a falsehood that they must meet Allah,- until on a sudden the hour is on them, and they say: "Ah! woe unto us that we took no thought of it"; for they bear their burdens on their backs, and evil indeed are the burdens that they bear? |
| Shakir 31: | They are losers indeed who reject the meeting of Allah; until when the hour comes upon them all of a sudden they shall say: O our grief for our neglecting it! and they shall bear their burdens on their backs; now surely evil is that which they bear. |
| Pickthal 31: | They indeed are losers who deny their meeting with Allah until, when the Hour cometh on them suddenly, they cry: Alas for us, that we neglected it! They bear upon their backs their burdens. Ah, evil is that which they bear! |
| Mohsin Khan: 31: | They indeed are losers who denied their Meeting with Allah, until all of a sudden, the Hour (signs of death) is on them, and they say: "Alas for us that we gave no thought to it," while they will bear their burdens on their backs; and evil indeed are the burdens that they will bear! |
| French 31: | Sont perdants certes ceux qui traitent de mensonges la rencontre d'Allah. Et quand soudain l'Heure leur viendra, ils diront: ‹Malheur à nous pour notre négligence à son égard, Et ils porteront leurs fardeaux sur leurs dos, et quels mauvais fardeaux! |
| Spanish 31: | Perderán quienes hayan desmentido el encuentro de Alá. Cuando, al fin, de repente, les venga la Hora, dirán: "¡Ay de nosotros, que nos descuidamos!" Y llevarán su carga a la espalda. ¿No es carga mala la que llevan? |
| Indonesian 31: | Sungguh telah rugilah orang-orang yang mendustakan pertemuan mereka dengan Tuhan; sehingga apabila kiamat datang kepada mereka dengan tiba-tiba, mereka berkata: "Alangkah besarnya penyesalan kami terhadap kelalaian kami tentang kiamat itu!", sambil mereka memikul dosa-dosa di atas punggungnya. Ingatlah, amatlah buruk apa yang mereka pikul itu. |
| Melayu 31: | Sesungguhnya telah rugilah orang-orang yang mendustakan pertemuan mengadap Allah; sehingga apabila hari kiamat datang secara mengejut kepada mereka, mereka berkata: Aduhai kesalnya kami atas apa yang telah kami cuaikan dalam dunia! Sambil mereka memikul dosa-dosa mereka di atas belakang mereka. Ingatlah, amatlah buruk apa yang mereka pikul itu. |
| German 31: | ""Wahrlich, die Verlierer sind diejenigen, die die Begegnung mit Allah leugnen. Wenn dann unversehens die Stunde über sie kommt, werden sie sagen: ""O wehe uns, daß wir sie vernachlässigt haben!"" Und sie werden ihre Last auf dem Rücken tragen. Wahrlich, schlimm ist das, was sie tragen werden. |
| Russian 31: | Те, которые отрицали встречу с Аллахом, уже оказались в убытке. Когда же внезапно для них настанет Час, они, неся свои ноши на своих спинах, скажут: «Горе нам за то, что мы упустили там!» Как же скверно то, что они понесут! |
| Bosnian 31: | Oni koji ne vjeruju da će pred Allaha stati nastradaće kad im iznenada Čas oživljenja dođe, i reći će: "O, žalosti naše, šta smo sve na Zemlji propustili!", i grijehe svoje će na leđima svojim nositi, a užasno je ono što će uprtiti! |
| Urdu 31: | وہ لوگ تباہ ہوئے جنہوں نے اپنے رب کی ملاقات کو جھٹلایا یہاں تک کہ جب ان پر قیامت اچانک آ پہنچے گی تو کہیں گے اے افسوس ہم نے اس میں کیسی کوتاہی کی اور وہ اپنے بوجھ اپنے پیٹوں پر اٹھائیں گےخبرداروہ برا بوجھ ہے جسے وہ اٹھائیں گے |
| 32 | وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۖ وَلَلدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ |
| Transliteration 32: | Wama alhayatu alddunya illa laAAibun walahwun walalddaru alakhirati khayrun lillatheena yattaqoona afala taAAqiloona |
| Yusuf Ali 32: | What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand? |
| Shakir 32: | And this world's life is naught but a play and an idle sport and certainly the abode of the hereafter is better for those who guard (against evil); do you not then understand? |
| Pickthal 32: | Naught is the life of the world save a pastime and a sport. Better far is the abode of the Hereafter for those who keep their duty (to Allah). Have ye then no sense? |
| Mohsin Khan: 32: | And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - See V.2:2). Will you not then understand? |
| French 32: | La présente vie n'est que jeu et amusement. La demeure dans l'au- delà sera meilleure pour ceux qui sont pieux. Eh bien, ne comprenez-vous pas? |

| Melayu 32: | Dan tidak (dinamakan) kehidupan dunia melainkan permainan yang sia-sia dan hiburan yang melalaikan dan demi sesungguhnya negeri akhirat itu lebih baik bagi orang-orang yang bertakwa. Oleh itu, tidakkah kamu mahu berfikir? |
| German 32: | "Das Leben in dieser Welt ist wahrlich nichts als ein Spiel und Vergnügen. Und wahrlich, die Wohnstätte des Jenseits ist für jene besser, die gottesfürchtig sind. Wollt ihr (das) denn nicht begreifen? |
| Russian 32: | Мирская жизнь – всего лишь игра и потеха, а последняя обитель лучше для тех, кто богобоязнен. Неужели вы не разумеете? |
| Bosnian 32: | Život na ovome svijetu je smo igra i zabava, a onaj svijet je, zaista, bolji za one koji se Allaha boje. Zašto se na opametite? |
| Urdu 32: | اور دنیا کی زندگی تو ایک کھیل اور تماشہ ہے اور البتہ آخرت کا گھر ان لوگوں کے لیے بہتر ہے جو پرہیزگار ہوئے کیا تم نہیں سمجھتے |
| 33 | قَدْ نَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُ لَيَحْزُنُكَ الَّذِي يَقُولُونَ ۖ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ |
| Transliteration 33: | Qad naAAlamu innahu layahzunuka allathee yaqooloona fainnahum la yukaththiboonaka walakinna alththalimeena biayati Allahi yajhadoona |
| Yusuf Ali 33: | We know indeed the grief which their words do cause thee: It is not thee they reject: it is the signs of Allah, which the wicked contemn. |
| Shakir 33: | We know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah. |
| Pickthal 33: | We know well how their talk grieveth thee, though in truth they deny not thee (Muhammad) but evil-doers flout the revelations of Allah. |
| Mohsin Khan: 33: | We know indeed the grief which their words cause you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): it is not you that they deny, but it is the Verses (the Qur'an) of Allah that the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) deny. |
| French 33: | Nous savons qu'en vérité ce qu'ils disent te chagrine. Or, vraiment ils ne croient pas que tu es menteur, mais ce sont les versets (le Coran) d'Allah, que les injustes renient. |
| Spanish 33: | Ya sabemos que lo que dicen te entristece. No es a ti a quien desmienten, sino que, más bien, lo que los impíos rechazan son los signos de Alá. |
| Indonesian 33: | Sesungguhnya, Kami mengetahui bahwasanya apa yang mereka katakan itu menyedihkan hatimu, (janganlah kamu bersedih hati), karena mereka sebenarnya bukan mendustakan kamu, akan tetapi orang-orang yang zalim itu mengingkari ayat-ayat Allah . |
| Melayu 33: | Sesungguhnya Kami mengetahui bahawa apa yang mereka katakan itu akan menyebabkan engkau (wahai Muhammad) berdukacita; (maka janganlah engkau berdukacita) kerana sebenarnya mereka bukan mendustakanmu, tetapi orang-orang yang zalim itu mengingkari ayat-ayat keterangan Allah (disebabkan kedegilan mereka semata-mata). |
| German 33: | Wir wissen wohl, daß dich das betrübt, was sie sagen; denn wahrlich, nicht dich bezichtigen sie der Lüge, sondern es sind die Zeichen Allahs, welche die Ungerechten verwerfen. |
| Russian 33: | Мы знаем, что тебя печалит то, что они говорят. Они не считают лжецом тебя – беззаконники отрицают знамения Аллаха! |
| Bosnian 33: | Mi znamo da tebe zaista žalosti to što oni govore. Oni, doista, ne okrivljuju tebe da si ti lažac, nego nevjernici poriču Allahove riječi. |
| Urdu 33: | ہمیں معلوم ہے کہ ان کی باتیں تمہیں غم میں ڈالتی ہیں سو وہ تجھے نہیں جھٹلاتے بلکہ یہ ظالم الله کی آیتوں کا انکار کرتے ہیں |
| 34 | وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا وَأُوذُوا حَتَّىٰ أَتَاهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| Transliteration 34: | Walaqad kuththibat rusulun min qablika fasabaroo AAala ma kuththiboo waoothoo hatta atahum nasruna wala mubaddila likalimati Allahi walaqad jaaka min nabai almursaleena |
| Yusuf Ali 34: | Rejected were the apostles before thee: with patience and constancy they bore their rejection and their wrongs, until Our aid did reach them: there is none that can alter the words (and decrees) of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those apostles. |
| Shakir 34: | And certainly messengers before you were rejected, but they were patient on being rejected and persecuted until Our help came to them; and there is none to change the words of Allah, and certainly there has come to you some information about the messengers. |
| Pickthal 34: | Messengers indeed have been denied before thee, and they were patient under the denial and the persecution till Our succour reached them. There is none to alter the decisions of Allah. Already there hath reached thee (somewhat) of the tidings of the messengers (We sent before). |
| Mohsin Khan: 34: | Verily, (many) Messengers were denied before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), but with patience they bore the denial, and they were hurt; till Our Help reached them, and none can alter the Words (Decisions) of Allah. Surely there has reached you the information (news) about the Messengers (before you). |
| French 34: | Certes, des messagers avant toi (Muhammad) ont été traités de menteurs. Ils endurèrent alors avec constance d'être traités de menteurs et d'être persécutés, jusqu'à ce que Notre secours leur vînt. Et nul ne peut changer les paroles d'Allah, et il t'est déjà parvenu une partie de l'histoire des Envoyés. |
| Spanish 34: | También fueron desmentidos antes de ti otros enviados, pero sufrieron con paciencia ese mentís y vejación hasta que les llegó Nuestro auxilio. No hay quien pueda cambiar las palabras de Alá. Tú mismo has oído algo acerca de los enviados. |
| Indonesian 34: | Dan sesungguhnya telah didustakan (pula) rasul-rasul sebelum kamu, akan tetapi mereka sabar terhadap pendustaan dan penganiayaan (yang dilakukan) terhadap mereka, sampai datang pertolongan Kami kepada mereka. Tak ada seorangpun yang dapat merobah kalimat-kalimat (janji-janji) Allah. Dan sesungguhnya telah datang kepadamu sebahagian dari berita rasul-rasul itu. |
| Melayu 34: | Dan demi sesungguhnya, Rasul-rasul sebelummu pernah juga didustakan, maka mereka sabar terhadap perbuatan orang-orang yang mendustakan mereka dan menyakiti mereka, sehingga datanglah pertolongan Kami kepada mereka dan sememangnyalah tiada sesiapa pun yang dapat mengubah Kalimah-kalimah Allah (janji-janjiNya) dan demi sesungguhnya, telah datang kepadamu sebahagian dari khabar berita Rasul-rasul itu. |
| German 34: | Es sind auch vor dir Gesandte als lügenhaft gescholten worden; doch, obgleich sie verleugnet und verfolgt wurden, sie blieben geduldig, bis Unsere Hilfe zu ihnen kam. Es gibt keinen, der die Worte Allahs zu ändern vermag. Wahrlich, von den Gesandten ist die Kunde zu dir gekommen. |
| Russian 34: | До тебя посланников также считали лжецами, но они терпели то, что их называли лжецами и обижали, пока не являлась к ним Наша помощь. Никто не исказит слов Аллаха, и до тебя уже дошли некоторые вести о посланниках. |
| Bosnian 34: | A poslanici su i prije tebe lažnim smatrani, pa su trpjeli što su ih u laž ugonili i mučili sve dok im ne bi došla pomoć Naša - a niko ne može Allahove riječi izmijeniti - i do tebe su doprle o poslanicima neke vijesti. |
| Urdu 34: | اور بہت سے رسول تم سے پہلے جھٹلائے گئے پھر انہوں نےجھٹلائے جانے پر صبر کیا اور ایذا دیے گئے یہاں تک کہ ان کو ہماری مدد پہنچی اور الله کے فیصلے کوئی بدل نہیں سکتا اور تمہیں پیغمبروں کے حالات کچھ پہنچ چکے ہیں |
| 35 | وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِيَ نَفَقًا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِي السَّمَاءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِآيَةٍ ۚ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى الْهُدَىٰ ۚ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ |
| Transliteration 35: | Wain kana kabura AAalayka iAAraduhum faini istataAAta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fee alardi aw sullaman fee alssamai fatatiyahum biayatin walaw shaa Allahu lajamaAAahum AAala alhuda fala takoonanna mina aljahileena |
| Yusuf Ali 35: | If their spurning is hard on thy mind, yet if thou wert able to seek a tunnel in the ground or a ladder to the skies and bring them a sign,- (what good?). If it were Allah.s will, He could gather them together unto true guidance: so be not thou amongst those who are swayed by ignorance (and impatience)! |
| Shakir 35: | And if their turning away is hard on you, then if you can seek an opening (to go down) into the earth or a ladder (to ascend up) to heaven so that you should bring them a sign and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have gathered them all on guidance, therefore be not of the ignorant. |
| Pickthal 35: | And if their aversion is grievous unto thee, then, if thou canst, seek a way down into the earth or a ladder unto the sky that thou mayst bring unto them a portent (to convince them all)! - If Allah willed, He could have brought them all together to the guidance - So be not thou among the foolish ones. |
| Mohsin Khan: 35: | If their aversion (from you, O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and from that with which you have been sent) is hard on you, (and you cannot be patient of their harm to you), then if you were able to seek a tunnel in the earth or a ladder to the sky, so that you may bring them a sign (and you cannot do it, so be patient). And had Allah willed, He could have gathered them together (all) on true guidance, so be not you one of those who are Al-Jahilun (the ignorant). |
| French 35: | Et si leur indifférence t'afflige énormément, et qu'il est dans ton pouvoir de chercher un tunnel à travers la terre, ou une échelle pour aller au ciel pour leur apporter un miracle, [fais-le donc]. Et si Allah voulait, Il pourrait les mettre tous sur le chemin droit. Ne sois pas du nombre des ignorants. |
| Spanish 35: | Y si te resulta duro que se alejen, auque pudieras encontrar un agujero en la tierra o una escala en el cielo para traerles un signo,... Alá, si hubiera querido, les habría congregado a todos para dirigirles. ¡No seas, pues, de los ignorantes! |
| Indonesian 35: | Dan jika perpalingan mereka (darimu) terasa amat berat bagimu, maka jika kamu dapat membuat lobang di bumi atau tangga ke langit lalu kamu dapat mendatangkan mu'jizat kepada mereka, (maka buatlah) . Kalau Allah menghendaki tentu saja Allah menjadikan mereka semua dalam petunjuk, sebab itu janganlah kamu sekali-kali termasuk orang-orang yang jahil. |
| Melayu 35: | Dan jika perbuatan mereka berpaling (daripada menerima apa yang engkau bawa wahai Muhammad) terasa amat berat kepadamu; maka sekiranya engkau sanggup mencari satu lubang di bumi (untuk menembusi ke bawahnya) atau satu tangga untuk naik ke langit, supaya engkau dapat bawakan mukjizat kepada mereka, (cubalah lakukan jika engkau sanggup) dan sekiranya Allah menghendaki, tentulah Dia himpunkan mereka atas hidayat petunjuk. (Tetapi Allah tidak menghendakinya), oleh itu janganlah engkau menjadi dari orang-orang yang jahil. |
| German 35: | Und wenn dir ihr Widerwille schmerzlich ist - nun wohl, falls du imstande bist, einen Schacht in die Erde oder eine Leiter in den Himmel zu finden, um ihnen ein Zeichen zu bringen, (dann magst du es tun). Wäre es Allahs Wille, Er hätte sie gewiß auf dem rechten Weg zusammengeführt. So sei nicht einer der Unwissenden. |
| Russian 35: | Если тебя тяготит их отвращение, то если ты сможешь отыскать проход в земле или лестницу на небо, то принеси им знамение. Если бы Аллах пожелал, то собрал бы их всех на прямом пути. Посему не будь одним из невежд. |
| Bosnian 35: | Ako je tebi teško to što oni glave okreću, onda, ako možeš, potraži kakav otvor u Zemlji ili kakve ljestve ka nebu, pa im donesi jedno čudo! Da Allah hoće, On bi ih sve na Pravome putu sakupio; zato nikako ne budi od onih koji to ne znaju! |
| Urdu 35: | اور اگر ان کا منہ پھیرنا تم پر گراں ہو رہا ہے پھر اگر تم سے ہو سکے تو کوئی سرنگ زمین میں تلاش کر یا آسمان سے سیڑھی لگا پھر ان کے پاس کوئی معجزہ لا اور اگر الله چاہتا تو سب کو سیدھی راہ پر جمع کر دیتا سو تو نادانوں میں سے نہ ہو |
| 36 | ۞ إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ وَالْمَوْتَىٰ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ |
| Transliteration 36: | Innama yastajeebu allatheena yasmaAAoona waalmawta yabAAathuhumu Allahu thumma ilayhi yurjaAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali 36: | Those who listen (in truth), be sure, will accept: as to the dead, Allah will raise them up; then will they be turned unto Him. |
| Shakir 36: | Only those accept who listen; and (as to) the dead, Allah will raise them, then to Him they shall be returned. |
| Pickthal 36: | Only those can accept who hear. As for the dead, Allah will raise them up; then unto Him they will be returned. |
| Mohsin Khan: 36: | It is only those who listen (to the Message of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), will respond (benefit from it), but as for the dead (i.e. disbelievers), Allah will raise them up, then to Him they will be returned (for their recompense). |
| French 36: | Seuls ceux qui entendent répondent à l'appel [de la foi].Et quant aux morts, Allah les ressuscitera; puis ils Lui seront ramenés.. |
| Spanish 36: | Sólo escuchan quienes oyen. En cuanto a los muertos, Alá les resucitará y serán devueltos a Él. |
| Indonesian 36: | Hanya orang-orang yang mendengar sajalah yang mematuhi (seruan Allah), dan orang-orang yang mati (hatinya) , akan dibangkitkan oleh Allah, kemudian kepada-Nya-lah mereka dikembalikan. |
| Melayu 36: | Hanyasanya orang-orang yang menyahut seruanmu itu ialah mereka yang mendengar (yang mahu menurut kebenaran); sedang orang-orang yang mati Allah bangkitkan mereka semula (pada hari kiamat kelak), kemudian mereka dikembalikan kepadaNya untuk menerima balasan. |
| German 36: | Nur die können (etwas) aufnehmen, die zuhören. Die Toten aber wird Allah dereinst erwecken; dann sollen sie zu Ihm zurückgebracht werden. |
| Russian 36: | Отвечают только те, кто внимает. А мертвых Аллах воскресит, после чего они будут возвращены к Нему. |
| Bosnian 36: | Odazvaće ti se jedino oni koji su poslušni. - A Allah će umrle oživiti; zatim, Njemu će se svi vratiti. |
| Urdu 36: | وہی مانتے ہیں جو سنتے ہیں اور الله مردوں کو زندہ کرے گا پھر اس کی طرف لوٹائے جائیں گے |
| 37 | وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ آيَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰ أَن يُنَزِّلَ آيَةً وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Transliteration 37: | Waqaloo lawla nuzzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul inna Allaha qadirun AAala an yunazzila ayatan walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoona |
| Yusuf Ali 37: | They say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "(Allah) hath certainly power to send down a sign: but most of them understand not. |
| Shakir 37: | And they say: Why has not a sign been sent down to him from his Lord? Say: Surely Allah is able to send down a sign, but most of them do not know. |
| Pickthal 37: | They say: Why hath no portent been sent down upon him from his Lord? Say: Lo! Allah is Able to send down a portent. But most of them know not. |
| Mohsin Khan: 37: | And they said: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "Allah is certainly Able to send down a sign, but most of them know not." |
| French 37: | Et ils disent: ‹Pourquoi n'a-t-on pas fait descendre sur lui (Muhammad) un miracle de la part de son Seigneur?› Dis: ‹Certes Allah est capable de faire descendre un miracle. Mais la plupart d'entre eux ne savent pas›. |
| Spanish 37: | Dicen: "¿Por qué no se le ha revelado un signo que procede de su Señor?" Di: "Alá es capaz de revelar un signo". Pero la mayoría no saben. |
| Indonesian 37: | Dan mereka (orang-orang musyrik Mekah) berkata: "Mengapa tidak diturunkan kepadanya (Muhammad) suatu mu'jizat dari Tuhannya?" Katakanlah: "Sesungguhnya Allah kuasa menurunkan suatu mu'jizat, tetapi kebanyakan mereka tidak mengetahui". |
| Melayu 37: | Dan mereka (golongan kafir musyrik) berkata: Alangkah eloknya kalau diturunkan kepada Muhammad satu mukjizat dari Tuhannya? Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Sesungguhnya Allah berkuasa menurunkan mukjizat, akan tetapi kebanyakan mereka tidak mengetahui (balasan yang akan menimpa mereka kalau mereka enggan beriman). |
| German 37: | "Sie sagen: ""Warum wird nicht ein Zeichen zu ihm herabgesandt von seinem Herrn!"" Sprich: ""Allah hat die Macht, ein Zeichen herabzusenden, doch die meisten von ihnen wissen es nicht!"" |
| Russian 37: | Они говорят: «Почему ему не ниспослано знамение от его Господа?» Скажи: «Аллах властен ниспослать знамение». Но большинство их не обладает знанием. |
| Bosnian 37: | Oni govore: "Zašto mu Gospodar njegov ne pošalje kakvo čudo!” Reci: "Allah je kadar poslati čudo, ali većina njih ne zna." |
| Urdu 37: | اور کہتے ہیں اس کے رب کی طرف سے اس پر کوئی نشانی کیوں نہیں اتری کہہ دو الله اس پر قادر ہے کہ نشانی اتارے اور لیکن ان میں سے اکثر نہیں جانتے |
| 38 | وَمَا مِن دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَائِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّا أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِن شَيْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ |
| Transliteration 38: | Wama min dabbatin fee alardi wala tairin yateeru bijanahayhi illa omamun amthalukum ma farratna fee alkitabi min shayin thumma ila rabbihim yuhsharoona |
| Yusuf Ali 38: | There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end. |
| Shakir 38: | And there is no animal that walks upon the earth nor a bird that flies with its two wings but (they are) genera like yourselves; We have not neglected anything in the Book, then to their Lord shall they be gathered. |
| Pickthal 38: | There is not an animal in the earth, nor a flying creature flying on two wings, but they are peoples like unto you. We have neglected nothing in the Book (of Our decrees). Then unto their Lord they will be gathered. |
| Mohsin Khan: 38: | There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered. |
| French 38: | Nulle bête marchent sur terre, nul oiseau volant de ses ailes, qui ne soit comme vous en communauté. Nous n'avons rien omis d'écrire dans le Livre. Puis, c'est vers leur Seigneur qu'ils seront ramenés. |
| Spanish 38: | No hay animal en la tierra, ni ave que vuele con sus alas, que no constituyan comunidades como vosotros. No hemos descuidado nada en la Escritura. Luego, serán congregados hacia su Señor. |
| Indonesian 38: | Dan tiadalah binatang-binatang yang ada di bumi dan burung-burung yang terbang dengan kedua sayapnya, melainkan umat-umat (juga) seperti kamu. Tiadalah Kami alpakan sesuatupun di dalam Al Kitab , kemudian kepada Tuhanlah mereka dihimpunkan. |
| Melayu 38: | Dan tidak seekor pun binatang yang melata di bumi dan tidak seekor pun burung yang terbang dengan kedua sayapnya, melainkan mereka umat-umat seperti kamu. Tiada Kami tinggalkan sesuatu pun di dalam kitab Al-Quran ini; kemudian mereka semuanya akan dihimpunkan kepada Tuhan mereka (untuk dihisab dan menerima balasan). |

| 39 | وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ ۗ مَن يَشَإِ اللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ |
| Transliteration 39: | Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina summun wabukmun fee alththulumati man yashai Allahu yudlilhu waman yasha yajAAalhu AAala siratin mustaqeemin |
| Yusuf Ali 39: | Those who reject our signs are deaf and dumb,- in the midst of darkness profound: whom Allah willeth, He leaveth to wander: whom He willeth, He placeth on the way that is straight. |
| Shakir 39: | And they who reject Our communications are deaf and dumb, in utter darkness; whom Allah pleases He causes to err and whom He pleases He puts on the right way. |

| Transliteration 40: | Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi aw atatkumu alssaAAatu aghayra Allahi tadAAoona in kuntum sadiqeena |
| Yusuf Ali 40: | Say: "Think ye to yourselves, if there come upon you the wrath of Allah, or the Hour (that ye dread), would ye then call upon other than Allah.- (reply) if ye are truthful! |

| 42 | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ |
| Transliteration 42: | Walaqad arsalna ila omamin min qablika faakhathnahum bialbasai waalddarrai laAAallahum yatadarraAAoona |
| Yusuf Ali 42: | Before thee We sent (apostles) to many nations, and We afflicted the nations with suffering and adversity, that they might learn humility. |
| Shakir 42: | And certainly We sent (messengers) to nations before you then We seized them with distress and affliction in order that they might humble themselves. |
| Pickthal 42: | We have sent already unto peoples that were before thee, and We visited them with tribulation and adversity, in order that they might grow humble. |
| Mohsin Khan: 42: | Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). And We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health (with calamities) so that they might humble themselves (believe with humility). |

| 43 | فَلَوْلَا إِذْ جَاءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Transliteration 43: | Falawla ith jaahum basuna tadarraAAoo walakin qasat quloobuhum wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu ma kanoo yaAAmaloona |
| Yusuf Ali 43: | When the suffering reached them from us, why then did they not learn humility? On the contrary their hearts became hardened, and Satan made their (sinful) acts seem alluring to them. |
| Shakir 43: | Yet why did they not, when Our punishment came to them, humble themselves? But their hearts hardened and the Shaitan made what they did fair-seeming to them. |
| Pickthal 43: | If only, when Our disaster came on them, they had been humble! But their hearts were hardened and the devil made all that they used to do seem fair unto them! |
| Mohsin Khan: 43: | When Our Torment reached them, why then did they not humble themselves (believe with humility)? But their hearts became hardened, and Shaitan (Satan) made fair-seeming to them that which they used to do. |

| Melayu 43: | Maka alangkah eloknya kalau mereka berdoa kepada Kami dengan merendah diri (serta insaf dan bertaubat) ketika mereka ditimpa azab Kami? Tetapi yang sebenarnya hati mereka keras (tidak mahu menerima kebenaran) dan Syaitan pula memperelokkan pada (pandangan) mereka apa yang mereka telah lakukan. |
| German 43: | Warum demütigten sie sich dann nicht, als Unsere Strafe über sie kam? Jedoch ihre Herzen waren verhärtet, und Satan ließ ihnen alles, was sie taten, als wohlgetan erscheinen. |
| Russian 43: | Почему же, когда их поражало Наше наказание, они не становились смиренными? Их сердца ожесточались, а сатана приукрашивал для них то, что они совершали. |

| 44 | فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ |
| Transliteration 44: | Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroo bihi fatahna AAalayhim abwaba kulli shayin hatta itha farihoo bima ootoo akhathnahum baghtatan faitha hum mublisoona |
| Yusuf Ali 44: | But when they forgot the warning they had received, We opened to them the gates of all (good) things, until, in the midst of their enjoyment of Our gifts, on a sudden, We called them to account, when lo! they were plunged in despair! |
| Shakir 44: | But when they neglected that with which they had been admonished, We opened for them the doors of all things, until when they rejoiced in what they were given We seized them suddenly; then lo! they were in utter despair. |
| Pickthal 44: | Then, when they forgot that whereof they had been reminded, We opened unto them the gates of all things till, even as they were rejoicing in that which they were given, We seized them unawares, and lo! they were dumbfounded. |
| Mohsin Khan: 44: | So, when they forgot (the warning) with which they had been reminded, We opened for them the gates of every (pleasant) thing, until in the midst of their enjoyment in that which they were given, all of a sudden, We took them (in punishment), and lo! They were plunged into destruction with deep regrets and sorrows. |
| French 44: | Puis, lorsqu'ils eurent oublié ce qu'on leur avait rappelé, Nous leur ouvrîmes les portes donnant sur toute chose (l'abondance); et lorsqu'ils eurent exulté de joie en raison de ce qui leur avait été donné, Nous les saisîmes soudain, et les voilà désespérés. |

| Indonesian 44: | Maka tatkala mereka melupakan peringatan yang telah diberikan kepada mereka, Kamipun membukakan semua pintu-pintu kesenangan untuk mereka; sehingga apabila mereka bergembira dengan apa yang telah diberikan kepada mereka, Kami siksa mereka dengan sekonyong-konyong, maka ketika itu mereka terdiam berputus asa. |
| Melayu 44: | Kemudian apabila mereka melupakan apa yang telah diperingatkan mereka dengannya, Kami bukakan kepada mereka pintu-pintu segala kemewahan dan kesenangan, sehingga apabila mereka bergembira dan bersukaria dengan segala nikmat yang diberikan kepada mereka, Kami timpakan mereka secara mengejut (dengan bala bencana yang membinasakan), maka mereka pun berputus asa (dari mendapat sebarang pertolongan). |
| German 44: | Als sie das vergaßen, woran sie erinnnert worden waren, da öffneten Wir ihnen die Tore aller Dinge. Als sie sich dann schließlich über das freuten, was sie erhalten hatten, verhängten Wir plötzlich eine Strafe über sie, und siehe, sie wurden in Verzweiflung gestürzt! |
| Russian 44: | Когда они позабыли о том, что им напоминали, Мы распахнули перед ними врата ко всякой вещи. Когда же они возрадовались дарованному, Мы схватили их внезапно, и они пришли в отчаяние! |
| Bosnian 44: | I kada bi zaboravili ono čime su opominjani, Mi bismo im kapije svega otvorili; a kad bi se onome što im je dato obradovali, iznenada bismo ih kaznili i oni bi odjednom svaku nadu izgubili, |
| Urdu 44: | پھر جب وہ اس نصیحت کو بھول گئے جو ان کو کی گئی تھی تو ہم نے ان پر ہر چیز کے دروازے کھول دیئے یہاں تک کہ جب وہ ان چیزوں پر خوش ہو گئےجو انہیں دی گئیں تھیں ہم نے انہیں اچانک پکڑ لیا وہ اس وقت نا امید ہوکر کر رہ گئے |
| 45 | فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ۚ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Transliteration 45: | FaqutiAAa dabiru alqawmi allatheena thalamoo waalhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena |
| Yusuf Ali 45: | Of the wrong-doers the last remnant was cut off. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher of the worlds. |
| Shakir 45: | So the roots of the people who were unjust were cut off; and all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. |
| Pickthal 45: | So of the people who did wrong the last remnant was cut off. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds! |
| Mohsin Khan: 45: | So the root of the people who did wrong was cut off. And all the praises and thanks are to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinn, and all that exists). |

| 46 | قُلْ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخَذَ اللَّهُ سَمْعَكُمْ وَأَبْصَارَكُمْ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ اللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ۗ انظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ |
| Transliteration 46: | Qul araaytum in akhatha Allahu samAAakum waabsarakum wakhatama AAala quloobikum man ilahun ghayru Allahi yateekum bihi onthur kayfa nusarrifu alayati thumma hum yasdifoona |
| Yusuf Ali 46: | Say: "Think ye, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who - a god other than Allah - could restore them to you?" See how We explain the signs by various (symbols); yet they turn aside. |
| Shakir 46: | Say: Have you considered that if Allah takes away your hearing and your sight and sets a seal on your hearts, who is the god besides Allah that can bring it to you? See how We repeat the communications, yet they turn away. |
| Pickthal 46: | Say: Have ye imagined, if Allah should take away your hearing and your sight and seal your hearts, Who is the Allah Who could restore it to you save Allah? See how We display the revelations unto them! Yet still they turn away. |
| Mohsin Khan: 46: | Say (to the disbelievers): "Tell me, if Allah took away your hearing and your sight, and sealed up your hearts, who is there - an ilah (a god) other than Allah who could restore them to you?" See how variously We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), yet they turn aside. |
| French 46: | Dis: ‹Voyez-vous? Si Allah prenait votre ouïe et votre vue, et scellait vos coeurs, quelle divinité autre qu'Allah vous les rendrait? Regarde comment, à leur intention, Nous clarifions les preuves! Pourtant ils s'en détournent. |

| Indonesian 46: | Katakanlah: "Terangkanlah kepadaku jika Allah mencabut pendengaran dan penglihatan serta menutup hatimu, siapakah tuhan selain Allah yang kuasa mengembalikannya kepadamu?" Perhatikanlah, bagaimana Kami berkali-kali memperlihatkan tanda-tanda kebesaran (Kami), kemudian mereka tetap berpaling (juga). |
| Melayu 46: | Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad): Bagaimana fikiran kamu, jika Allah melenyapkan pendengaran serta penglihatan kamu dan Dia pula mengecap (memeterikan) atas hati kamu? Siapakah Tuhan selain Allah yang berkuasa mengembalikannya kepada kamu? Lihatlah bagaimana Kami berulang-ulang menerangkan tanda-tanda kebesaran Kami (dengan berbagai cara), dalam pada itu, mereka tetap juga berpaling ingkar. |
| German 46: | "Sprich: ""Was wähnt ihr? Wenn Allah euer Gehör und euer Gesicht wegnähme und eure Herzen versiegelte, welcher Gott außer Allah könnte euch das wiedergeben?"" Schau, wie mannigfach Wir die Zeichen dartun, und dennoch wenden sie sich (davon) ab. |
| Russian 46: | Скажи: «Скажите мне, если Аллах отнимет ваш слух и ваше зрение и запечатает ваши сердца, какое божество, кроме Аллаха, вернет вам все это?» Посмотри, как Мы разъясняем знамения, однако они все еще отворачиваются. |
| Bosnian 46: | Reci: "Kažite vi meni, ako bi vas Allah sluha vašeg i vida vašeg lišio i srca vaša zapečatio, koji bi vam bog, osim Allaha, to vratio?" Pogledaj kako dokaze iznosimo, a oni opet glave okreću. |
| Urdu 46: | ان سے کہہ دو دیکھو تو سہی اگر الله ہی کے لیے سب تعریف ہے جو سارے جہان کا پالنے والا ہےاگر الله تمہارے کان اور آنکھیں چھین لے اور تمہارے دلوں پر مہر لگا دے تو الله کے سوا کوئی ایسا رب ہے جو تمہیں یہ چیزیں لادے دیکھ ہم کیوں کر طرح طرح کی نشانیاں بیان کرتے ہیں پھر بھی یہ منہ موڑتے ہیں |
| 47 | قُلْ أَرَأَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَاكُمْ عَذَابُ اللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الظَّالِمُونَ |
| Transliteration 47: | Qul araaytakum in atakum AAathabu Allahi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illa alqawmu alththalimoona |
| Yusuf Ali 47: | Say: "Think ye, if the punishment of Allah comes to you, whether suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed except those who do wrong? |
| Shakir 47: | Say: Have you considered if the chastisement of Allah should overtake you suddenly or openly, will any be destroyed but the unjust people? |
| Pickthal 47: | Say: Can ye see yourselves, if the punishment of Allah come upon you unawares or openly? Would any perish save wrongdoing folk? |
| Mohsin Khan: 47: | Say: "Tell me, if the punishment of Allah comes to you suddenly (during the night), or openly (during the day), will any be destroyed except the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing people)?" |

| 48 | وَمَا نُرْسِلُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ فَمَنْ آمَنَ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ |
| Transliteration 48: | Wama nursilu almursaleena illa mubashshireena wamunthireena faman amana waaslaha fala khawfun AAalayhim wala hum yahzanoona |
| Yusuf Ali 48: | We send the apostles only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. |
| Shakir 48: | And We send not messengers but as announcers of good news and givers of warning, then whoever believes and acts aright, they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve. |
| Pickthal 48: | We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news and warners. Whoso believeth and doeth right, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. |
| Mohsin Khan: 48: | And We send not the Messengers but as givers of glad tidings and as warners. So whosoever believes and does righteous good deeds, upon such shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. |

| Indonesian 48: | Dan tidaklah Kami mengutus para rasul itu melainkan untuk memberi kabar gembira dan memberi peringatan. Barangsiapa yang beriman dan mengadakan perbaikan , maka tak ada kekhawatiran terhadap mereka dan tidak (pula) mereka bersedih hati. |
| Melayu 48: | Dan tiadalah Kami utuskan Rasul-rasul itu melainkan sebagai pembawa berita gembira dan pembawa amaran; kemudian sesiapa yang beramal soleh, maka tidak ada kebimbangan (dari berlakunya kejadian yang tidak baik) terhadap mereka dan mereka tidak akan berdukacita. |
| German 48: | "Wir schicken die Gesandten nur als Bringer froher Botschaft und als Warner. Uber die also, die da glauben und sich bessern, soll keine Furcht kommen, noch sollen sie traurig sein. |
| Russian 48: | Мы отправляем посланников только добрыми вестниками и предостерегающими увещевателями. Те, которые уверовали и совершали праведные деяния, не познают страха и не будут опечалены. |
| Bosnian 48: | Mi šaljemo poslanike samo zato da donose radosne vijesti i da opominju; neka se zato oni koji vjeruju i dobra djela čine ničega ne boje i ni za čim neka ne tuguju. |
| Urdu 48: | اور ہم پیغبروں کو صرف اس لیے بھیجا کرتے ہیں کہ وہ بشارت دیں اور ڈرائیں پھر جو شخص ایمان لے آوے اور اپنی اصلاح کر لے سو ان پر کوئی ڈر نہ ہوگا اور نہ وہ غم کھائيں گے |
| 49 | وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَمَسُّهُمُ الْعَذَابُ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ |
| Transliteration 49: | Waallatheena kaththaboo biayatina yamassuhumu alAAathabu bima kanoo yafsuqoona |
| Yusuf Ali 49: | But those who reject our signs,- them shall punishment touch, for that they ceased not from transgressing. |
| Shakir 49: | And (as for) those who reject Our communications, chastisement shall afflict them because they transgressed. |
| Pickthal 49: | But as for those who deny Our revelations, torment will afflict them for that they used to disobey. |
| Mohsin Khan: 49: | But those who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), the torment will touch them for their disbelief (and for their belying the Message of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). [Tafsir Al-Qurtubi]. |

| 50 | قُل لَّا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِي خَزَائِنُ اللَّهِ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ وَلَا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنِّي مَلَكٌ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ ۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْبَصِيرُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُونَ |
| Transliteration 50: | Qul la aqoolu lakum AAindee khazainu Allahi wala aAAlamu alghayba wala aqoolu lakum innee malakun in attabiAAu illa ma yooha ilayya qul hal yastawee alaAAma waalbaseeru afala tatafakkaroona |
| Yusuf Ali 50: | Say: "I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor do I know what is hidden, nor do I tell you I am an angel. I but follow what is revealed to me." Say: "can the blind be held equal to the seeing?" Will ye then consider not? |
| Shakir 50: | Say: I do not say to you, I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I do not follow aught save that which is revealed to me. Say: Are the blind and the seeing one alike? Do you not then reflect? |
| Pickthal 50: | Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): I say not unto you (that) I possess the treasures of Allah, nor that I have knowledge of the Unseen; and I say not unto you: Lo! I am an angel. I follow only that which is inspired in me. Say: Are the blind man and the seer equal? Will ye not then take thought? |
| Mohsin Khan: 50: | Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I don't tell you that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor (that) I know the Unseen; nor I tell you that I am an angel. | Indonesian 50: | Katakanlah: "Aku tidak mengatakan kepadamu, bahwa perbendaharaan Allah ada padaku, dan tidak (pula) aku mengetahui yang ghaib dan tidak (pula) aku mengatakan kepadamu bahwa aku seorang malaikat. Aku tidak mengikuti kecuali apa yang diwahyukan kepadaku. Katakanlah: "Apakah sama orang yang buta dengan orang yang melihat?" Maka apakah kamu tidak memikirkan (nya)? |
| Melayu 50: | Katakanlah (wahai Muhammad); Aku tidak mengatakan kepada kamu (bahawa) perbendaharaan Allah ada di sisiku dan aku pula tidak mengetahui perkara-perkara yang ghaib; aku juga tidak mengatakan kepada kamu bahawasanya aku ini malaikat, aku tidak menurut melainkan apa yang diwahyukan kepadaku. Bertanyalah (kepada mereka): Adakah sama orang yang buta dengan orang yang celik? Tidakkah kamu mahu berfikir? |
| German 50: | "Sprich: ""Ich sage nicht zu euch: »Bei mir sind Allahs Schätze«, noch kenne ich das Verborgene; auch sage ich nicht zu euch: »Ich bin ein Engel«; ich folge nur dem, was mir offenbart wurde."" Sprich: ""Können wohl ein Blinder und ein Sehender einander gleichen? Wollt ihr denn nicht nachdenken?"" |
| Russian 50: | Скажи: «Я не говорю вам, что при мне сокровищницы Аллаха, и я не ведаю сокровенного. Я не говорю вам, что являюсь ангелом. Я следую лишь тому, что ниспосылается мне в откровении». Скажи: «Разве равны слепой и зрячий? Неужели вы не поразмыслите?» |

| Urdu 50: | کہہ دو میں تم سے یہ نہیں کہتا کہ میرے پاس الله کے خزانے ہیں اور نہ میں غیب کا علم رکھتا ہوں اور نہ یہ کہتا ہوں کہ میں فرشتہ ہوں میں تو صرف اس وحی کی پیروی کرتا ہوں جو مجھ پر نازل کی جاتی ہے کہہ دو کیا اندھا اور آنکھوں والا دونوں برابر ہو سکتے ہیں کیا تم غور نہیں کرتے |
