Transliteration 4: | Bala qadireena AAala an nusawwiya bananahu | |
Yusuf Ali 4: | Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. | |
Shakir 4: | Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips | |
Pickthal 4: | Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! | |
Mohsin Khan: 4: | Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. | |

5 | بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ | |
Transliteration 5: | Bal yureedu alinsanu liyafjura amamahu | |
Yusuf Ali 5: | But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. | |
Shakir 5: | Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. | |
Pickthal 5: | But man would fain deny what is before him. | |
Mohsin Khan: 5: | Nay! Man (denies Resurrection and Reckoning. So he) desires to continue committing sins. | |

Shakir 12: | With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. | |
Pickthal 12: | Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. | |
Mohsin Khan: 12: | Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. | |

Transliteration 13: | Yunabbao alinsanu yawmaithin bima qaddama waakhkhara | |
Yusuf Ali 13: | That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. | |
Shakir 13: | Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. | |
Pickthal 13: | On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. | |
Mohsin Khan: 13: | On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). | |

Yusuf Ali 14: | Nay, man will be evidence against himself, | |
Shakir 14: | Nay! man is evidence against himself, | |
Pickthal 14: | Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, | |
Mohsin Khan: 14: | Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds], | |

Yusuf Ali 16: | Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. | |
Shakir 16: | Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, | |
Pickthal 16: | Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. | |
Mohsin Khan: 16: | Move not your tongue concerning (the Qur'an, O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) to make haste therewith. | |

17 | إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ | |
Transliteration 17: | Inna AAalayna jamAAahu waquranahu | |
Yusuf Ali 17: | It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: | |
Shakir 17: | Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. | |
Pickthal 17: | Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. | |
Mohsin Khan: 17: | It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the ability to recite it (the Qur'an). | |
French 17: | Son rassemblement (dans ton coeur et sa fixation dans ta mémoire) Nous incombent, ainsi que la façon de le réciter.. | |
Spanish 17: | ¡Somos Nosotros los encargados de juntarlo y de recitarlo! | |
Indonesian 17: | Sesungguhnya atas tanggungan Kami-lah mengumpulkannya (di dadamu) dan (membuatmu pandai) membacanya. | |
Melayu 17: | Sesungguhnya Kamilah yang berkuasa mengumpulkan Al-Quran itu (dalam dadamu) dan menetapkan bacaannya (pada lidahmu); | |
German 17: | Uns obliegt seine Sammlung und seine Verlesung. | |
Russian 17: | Нам надлежит собрать его и прочесть. | |
Bosnian 17: | Mi smo dužni da ga saberemo da bi ga ti čitao. | |
Urdu 17: | بے شک اس کا جمع کرنا اور پڑھا دینا ہمارے ذمہ ہے | |
18 | فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ | |
Transliteration 18: | Faitha qaranahu faittabiAA quranahu | |
Yusuf Ali 18: | But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): | |
Shakir 18: | Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. | |
Pickthal 18: | And when We read it, follow thou the reading; | |
Mohsin Khan: 18: | And when We have recited it to you [O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم through Jibril (Gabriel)], then follow its (the Qur'an's) recital. | |
French 18: | Quand donc Nous le récitons, suis sa récitation. | |
Spanish 18: | Y, cuando lo recitemos, ¡sigue la recitación! | |
Indonesian 18: | Apabila Kami telah selesai membacakannya maka ikutilah bacaannya itu. | |

19 | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ | |
Transliteration 19: | Thumma inna AAalayna bayanahu | |
Yusuf Ali 19: | Nay more, it is for Us to explain it (and make it clear): | |
Shakir 19: | Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. | |
Pickthal 19: | Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. | |
Mohsin Khan: 19: | Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear (to you). | |
French 19: | A Nous, ensuite incombera son explication. | |
Spanish 19: | Luego, a Nosotros nos toca explicarlo. | |
Indonesian 19: | Kemudian, sesungguhnya atas tanggungan Kami-lah penjelasannya. | |

20 | كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ | |
Transliteration 20: | Kalla bal tuhibboona alAAajilata | |
Yusuf Ali 20: | Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, | |
Shakir 20: | Nay! But you love the present life, | |
Pickthal 20: | Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now | |
Mohsin Khan: 20: | Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but you (men) love the present life of this world, | |
French 20: | Mais vous aimez plutòt [la vie] éphémère, | |
Spanish 20: | Pero ¡no! En lugar de eso, amáis la vida fugaz | |
Indonesian 20: | Sekali-kali janganlah demikian. Sebenarnya kamu (hai manusia) mencintai kehidupan dunia, | |

Mohsin Khan: 27: | And it will be said: "Who can cure him (and save him from death)?" | |

Yusuf Ali 30: | That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! | |
Shakir 30: | To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. | |
Pickthal 30: | Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. | |
Mohsin Khan: 30: | The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! | |
French 30: | c'est vers ton Seigneur, ce jour-là que tu seras conduit. | |

Yusuf Ali 31: | So he gave nothing in charity, nor did he pray!- | |
Shakir 31: | So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray, | |
Pickthal 31: | For he neither trusted, nor prayed. | |
Mohsin Khan: 31: | So he (the disbeliever) neither believed (in this Qur'an and in the Message of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) nor prayed! | |
French 31: | Mais il n'a ni cru, ni fait la Salat; | |
Spanish 31: | No creyó, ni oró, | |
Indonesian 31: | Dan ia tidak mau membenarkan (Rasul dan Al Qur'an) dan tidak mau mengerjakan shalat, | |

32 | وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ | |
Transliteration 32: | Walakin kaththaba watawalla | |
Yusuf Ali 32: | But on the contrary, he rejected Truth and turned away! | |
Shakir 32: | But called the truth a lie and turned back, | |
Pickthal 32: | But he denied and flouted. | |
Mohsin Khan: 32: | But on the contrary, he belied (this Qur'an and the Message of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and turned away! | |
French 32: | par contre, il a démenti et tourné le dos, | |
Spanish 32: | antes bien, desmintió y se desvió. | |
Indonesian 32: | tetapi ia mendustakan (Rasul) dan berpaling (dari kebenaran), | |

33 | ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ | |
Transliteration 33: | Thumma thahaba ila ahlihi yatamatta | |
Yusuf Ali 33: | Then did he stalk to his family in full conceit! | |
Shakir 33: | Then he went to his followers, walking away in haughtiness. | |
Pickthal 33: | Then went he to his folk with glee. | |
Mohsin Khan: 33: | Then he walked in conceit (full pride) to his family admiring himself! | |
French 33: | puis il s'en est allé vers sa famille, marchant avec orgueil. | |
Spanish 33: | Luego, se volvió a los suyos con andar altanero. | |

Yusuf Ali 34: | Woe to thee, (O men!), yea, woe! | |
Shakir 34: | Nearer to you (is destruction) and nearer, | |
Pickthal 34: | Nearer unto thee and nearer, | |
Mohsin Khan: 34: | Woe to you [O man (disbeliever)]! And then (again) woe to you! | |
French 34: | ‹Malheur à toi, malheur!› | |

Shakir 36: | Does man think that he is to be left to wander without an aim? | |
Pickthal 36: | Thinketh man that he is to be left aimless? | |
Mohsin Khan: 36: | Does man think that he will be left neglected (without being punished or rewarded for the obligatory duties enjoined by his Lord Allah on him)? | |
French 36: | L'homme pense-t-il qu'on le laissera sans obligation à observer? | |

37 | أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ | |
Transliteration 37: | Alam yaku nutfatan min manayyin yumna | |
Yusuf Ali 37: | Was he not a drop of sperm emitted (in lowly form)? | |
Shakir 37: | Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements, | |
Pickthal 37: | Was he not a drop of fluid which gushed forth? | |
Mohsin Khan: 37: | Was he not a Nutfah (mixed male and female sexual discharge) of semen emitted (poured forth)? | |
French 37: | N'était-il pas une goutte de sperme éjaculé? | |
Spanish 37: | ¿No fue una gota de esperma eyaculada | |
Indonesian 37: | Bukankah dia dahulu setetes mani yang ditumpahkan (ke dalam rahim), | |

Transliteration 38: | Thumma kana AAalaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwa | |
Yusuf Ali 38: | Then did he become a leech-like clot; then did ((Allah)) make and fashion (him) in due proportion. | |
Shakir 38: | Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect. | |
Pickthal 38: | Then he became a clot; then (Allah) shaped and fashioned | |
Mohsin Khan: 38: | Then he became an 'Alaqah (a clot); then (Allah) shaped and fashioned (him) in due proportion. | |
French 38: | Et ensuite une adhérence Puis [Allah] l'a créée et formée harmonieusement; | |

Transliteration 39: | FajaAAala minhu alzzawjayni alththakara waalontha | |
Yusuf Ali 39: | And of him He made two sexes, male and female. | |
Shakir 39: | Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female. | |
Pickthal 39: | And made of him a pair, the male and female. | |
Mohsin Khan: 39: | And made of him two sexes, male and female. | |

Yusuf Ali 40: | Has not He, (the same), the power to give life to the dead? | |
Shakir 40: | Is not He able to give life to the dead? | |
Pickthal 40: | Is not He (Who doeth so) Able to bring the dead to life? | |
Mohsin Khan: 40: | Is not He (Allah Who does that) Able to give life to the dead? (Yes! He is Able to do all things). | |
